Psychotherapy encompasses a variety of approaches, the most famous of which is psychoanalysis.
In fact, one should speak of psychotherapies, in the plural, as the methods of treatment are numerous.
In psychoanalysis, for example, there are different "schools" and therefore different approaches. For twenty years, behavioral and cognitive therapies have also developed to be widely used today.
Different types of caregivers practice psychotherapy:
Psychiatrists, psychologists, psychoanalysts (and other professions trained in psychotherapy) can obtain the title of psychotherapist. The 2010 law (amended in 2012) regulates the use of the title and requires the registration of professionals in the Adeli National Register.
When to follow a psychotherapy?
A psychotherapy is a personal approach, when a need is felt intimately, that one feels in difficulty, or with the impression of not being able to manage alone. Psychotherapy can also be advised by a general practitioner, or a psychiatrist.
Psychotherapy can be indicated for people who are stressed, phobic, have anxiety, anxiety, ADHD, or depression. Psychotherapy can then be combined with other treatments, such as drugs. It is also recommended for patients with eating disorder. It can be proposed for addiction problems, but also sometimes for certain neurological pathologies when psychic disorders exist.
Concretely, a pyschotherapy can be useful for people who show a real malaise for very different circumstances:
- A difficult step to overcome: a mourning, an illness, a divorce, a professional dismissal ...
- Persistent malaise: negative or failed feelings, lassitude, anxiety, depression ...
- Sexual problems: lack of desire, obsession ...
- A willingness to evolve personally: identify strengths and weaknesses, gain self-confidence, make decisions, manage emotions ...
