The urologist: sometimes very specialized activities

Some urologists specialize in specific activities, so some perform a lot of oncology, they operate and treat cancers of the kidney, prostate, testis or bladder. They work in a multidisciplinary team with oncologists, radiation therapists ...

Other urologists specialize mainly in the problems of sexology: they are uro-andrologists. Others specialize in incontinence treatments.

An urologist may also specialize in neurological problems related to the functioning of the urinary system, and in particular the bladder (for certain types of urinary incontinence). We talk about neuro-urologist.

The French Society of Urologists is the French Association of Urology (AFU).
