Cold sores

Inesthetic, embarrassing, painful ... better known as a cold sore, cold sores are a common and contagious condition.

Cold sores are viral diseases, which appear as grouped vesicles. When it is large enough, when the thrust is important, cold sores may have the appearance of a small cauliflower. It is due to a type 1 virus (HSV-1).

Most often, the cold sore is located around or on a lip or mouth, but it can also be located inside the nose, on a cheek or on the edge of an ear. In most cases, it reappears in the same place.

Once the organism has contracted the virus responsible for cold sores for the first time, it remains "hibernated" in the body and appears from time to time, causing a new outbreak of herpes. This can happen at any time, so in case of decreased immunity (due to high stress, fatigue, a cold ... or more serious illness), a cold sore can appear.

This disease is contagious. When the vesicles have burst the risk is even stronger since the liquid contains the viruses. It is essential to avoid any contact of the herpes plaque with another person, especially during the first 48 hours.
