Eczema in the baby: the testimony of a mother

Sarah, 28, mother of Romain, 4 years old who suffers from an eczema, brings his testimony.

How did Romain's eczema begin ?

When he was born, Romain had a beautiful and sweet pink skin. I breastfed her for two and a half months and then my maternity leave ended, I had to go back to work. Around 4 months and a half, Romain started to have red patches on the cheeks, as we were in winter, I spread Cold Cream®, and indeed, it started to fade slightly. But fifteen days later, it spread to the body, it had dry and rough patches on the buttocks, on the chest, on the arms, in short everywhere.

What did you do ?

We consulted his pediatrician who immediately diagnosed eczema. He prescribed a cream that contains cortisone, which I did not want to use because I was afraid of these aggressive products.

He healed spontaneously ?

No, we went to see the GP who prescribed a prescription moisturizing lotion, prepared by the pharmacist. She advised against leaving Romain too long in the bath. Running water where we live, is very limestone, it does not help. We invested in a water softener. I spread lotion several times a day, I finally gave in and I agreed to use the corticosteroid cream that the pediatrician had prescribed, on places that were resistant, and that really scratched. In parallel, he had a syrup to take, morning and evening. And little by little, the plates are gone.

And today ?

Today, that's fine. But I am vigilant, the winter, I spread it of cream to avoid that its skin does not dry. He had a big crisis last year, when he came back to kindergarten in a small section, then it faded. We also avoid the sun, because we noticed that, even if at the time, it seems to get better, it gets worse after. In our eyes, he is cured because he has not had eczema for almost a year. So everything is fine...
