Indication

Symptomatic treatment of iterative vertigo with or without a cochlear sign.

Dosage

The usual dosage is 1 to 2 tablets 3 times a day, preferably in the middle of meals, without exceeding 6 tablets, ie 48 mg of betahistine per day.

Children and adolescents

The use of BETAHISTINE 8 mg in children and adolescents under the age of 18 years is not recommended due to lack of data on safety and efficacy.

Elderly

Because of the limited data available, betahistine should be used with caution in the elderly.

Renal failure

There is no data available in patients with renal insufficiency.

Hepatic insufficiency

There is no data available in patients with hepatic insufficiency.

Duration of treatment

The duration of the recommended treatment is 2 to 3 months, to be renewed eventually, according to the evolution of the disease, in continuous or discontinuous courses.

Administration mode

The tablets should be swallowed without being chewed with a glass of water during meals.

Against indications

· Hypersensitivity to any of the components of this medication,

· Peptic ulcer thrust

· Pheochromocytoma.

Adverse effects Betahistine EG

Most common side effects:

· Gastralgia, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, diarrhea.

More rarely :

· Headache, asthenia, drowsiness, hypersensitivity reactions.

Exceptionally:

· Thrombocytopenia, elevation of transaminases.
