Stop smoking: how to prevent this craving?

There are various nicotine substitutes and medications to help you in your withdrawal and avoid or at least relieve the lack syndromes.

The best is to consult a doctor who will evaluate your smoker profile and offer you a personalized care.

In any case, whatever the method and nicotine substitute chosen: it is essential that the smoker believes in the effectiveness of (s) the method (s) he will choose.

Nicotine substitutes

  • Nicotine gums. It should not be chewed like a chewing gum but only for a few seconds and then held between the cheek and the gum.
  • Sublingual tablets. These are small pellets to let melt under the tongue. They can be offered to smokers who do not like gums or have dental appliances.
  • Nicotine transdermal patches. These patches cause a slow and progressive release of nicotine. It is best not to smoke under patch.
  • The inhaler and the nicotine spray.

They can be partially covered by the Health Insurance, up to 50 euros per year; and 150 euros for pregnant women.
