Indication

Treatment and / or prophylaxis of vitamin D deficiency states.

VITAMINIC DEFICIENCY OF THE CHILD :
Prophylaxis of vitaminoprive rickets:
its implementation is imperative for all infants and young children in the current conditions of life (ministerial circulars of 21 February 1963 and 6 January 1971) due to: insufficient exposure to the sun, low levels of food vitamin D, lack of supplementation of industrial milk with vitamin D.
Premature : 5 drops daily (1500 IU daily).
- Infant (from birth to 18 months):
. in good health: 4 drops per day (1200 IU / day),
. little sun exposure: 5 drops per day (1500 IU / day),
. with very pigmented skin: 7 drops per day (2100 IU / day).
- Child (from 18 months to 5 years) : same dosage during the cold season, or 3 to 6 months depending on the region.
TREATMENT OF VITAMINOPRIVE RACHITISM :
14 to 28 drops per day for 3 weeks (4200 to 8400 IU / day) or 7 to 14 drops per day for 6 weeks (2100 to 4200 IU / day).
Then prevent relapses by using the posology above.
Do not exceed 10 to 15 mg per year (ie 400000 and 600000 IU per year).
VITAMIN DEFICIENCY IN PREGNANT WOMEN :
From the 6th month of pregnancy in periods of low sunlight (from October to April): 3 drops per day (900 IU / day).
VITAMIN DEFICIENCY OF ADULT AND SUBJECT AGE, OSTEOMALACIA :
- Prophylaxis:
3 to 6 drops a day (900 to 1800 IU / day).
- Treatment :
15 to 70 drops per day (4500 to 21000 IU / day) and up to 100 drops per day depending on the intensity of the deficiency until normal return of serum calcium and phosphoremia, by monitoring calciuria to avoid overdosage, then prophylactic treatment according to the scheme above.

Against indications

- Hypersensitivity to vitamin D.
- Hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, calcium lithiasis.
- Immobilized subjects.
